Hiking Camps

HAPPY HIKER CAMPS

Specifically designed for children, ages of 4 to 7 (inclusive), these 3 day camps run daily from Monday to Wednesday (inclusive), from 9:30am until 12:30pm. 

 

Led by our own instructor group, registrants will spend the day checking out the Edmonton river valley along with the other areas in our community. Beyond hiking and short walks, there will be lots of added time for sports play, indoor activities, nature and wilderness discovery and much more!

Registrants should come prepared with a re-fillable water bottle, along with snacks to get them through a very active morning. Clothing and footwear should be brought that considers all possible weather conditions.

Organizing emails will be sent out to all participants approximately 1 month prior to the first camp day! We look forward to everyone joining us in July and August! Nothing better than a summer day in Edmonton! See you all soon!

As a pre-condition to taking part in a Summer School Program, you will have to sign a RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AGREEMENT on behalf of all persons who are participating either online or at our Customer Service Desk. Summer Camp Adventures Await in Edmonton's Stunning River Valley!

 

Get ready for a week-long journey of outdoor exploration and excitement with our Summer Camp Sessions designed for ages 6-12! Nestled in the heart of the breathtaking river valley, our camps offer a perfect blend of thrilling mountain biking excursions, nature-based play, exciting games, and captivating hikes that unveil the
wonders of local flora and fauna.

Sessions run daily Monday to Friday, unless noted otherwise, from 9:30am to 3:00pm.  All sessions begin here at the ESC river valley location.  Sessions begin in early July and run each and every week through to the end of August.  Registrations are limited per session so please don't wait and miss your preferred opportunity.


Program Highlights:
Daily Mountain Bike Excursions: Embark on thrilling daily mountain bike adventures that lead campers through the enchanting river valley trails. From gentle slopes to exciting descents, our experienced leaders guide participants in discovering the joy of mountain biking amidst nature's beauty.


Nature-Based Play and Games:

Immerse in the wonders of the great outdoors! Our camp is packed with nature-based play and games, fostering a love for the environment while engaging campers in imaginative and active pursuits.
 

Educational Hikes:

Explore the richness of our local ecosystem with daily hikes that introduce campers to the diverse plants and animals thriving in the river valley. Our knowledgeable leaders share fascinating insights, making every hike a learning adventure.


Geared Mountain Bike Required:

To fully enjoy the biking experience, participants need to bring their own geared mountain bike in good working condition and a snug bike helmet. Safety is our priority, and well-maintained bikes ensure a secure and enjoyable ride for everyone.

Little Stiders

Three Week Bike Programs

Beginning on June 5, 6 and 7, Edmonton Ski Club is happy to bring back our Little Striders and Learn to MTB Basic programs for those young bike enthusiasts getting ready for Summer 2026.

Little Striders Program - 3 to 5 year olds

$99+GST per child

 - classes begin on June 5 or 6 or 7

with several daily start times to choose from

 - sessions take place on the same days and times for three consecutive weeks

Learn to MTB Basics Program - 6 to 9 year olds

$129+GST per child

 - classes begin on June 6 or 7 at 12noon

 - sessions take place on the same days and times for three consecutive weeks

 

For both programs, children must have a bike in good working condition with functioning brakes and gearing and be wearing a CSA approved bike helmet at all times while on site.

Why take Bike Programs at Edmonton Ski Club?

​

Our bike programs are led by BCIP trained instructors ensuring a positive experience for all participants.  They teach the fundamentals in a progressive manner, for all age levels, so learning is completed at a quicker pace while providing more repetition and practicing opportunities.  At teaching ratios of 4:1, there are lots of opportunities for 1:1 time between the individual student and instructor(s).  Classes are presented in a safe environment here in Edmonton's amazing river valley.

Located right next to the Muttart Conservatory, Edmonton Ski Club is accessible by car and offers free parking for all participants.  We are also accessible by the new Valley Line LRT with a short walk from the station to the ESC Lodge.  We hope we will see you soon!!
