A development permit has been submitted on behalf of the Edmonton Ski Club for discretionary use Outdoor Recreation Service. The purpose of this application is to replace the current rental shop building with a permanent modular structure. The new facility will continue to operate as a rental shop with a multipurpose room, washrooms, operations room, locked storage and roof top patio.

The permit also locates two 40 feet long storage containers on the property for storage.

SECAN PROJECT

Back in July 2025, Edmonton Ski Club undertook a site improvement project, designed to ensure the safety and security of all major equipment owned by the Club. That process began with circulation of a Community Engagement notice to Cloverdale residents and culminated with the successful introduction of the two SeCan units to the site in October 2025.

 

Now that the 2026-2026 winter season has wrapped up, we are pleased to report that the SeCan units have performed as hoped. That valuable and necessary equipment that had been vandalized twice previously is now safely stored away. We saw less petty crime with the SeCan units being on site over the past season with no appreciable negative impacts on general aesthetics of the site within our community.

 

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that provided feedback and comments throughout the engagement process as well as City of Edmonton officials that supported this worthwhile endeavour of keeping Edmonton Ski Club equipment safe and secure.
