Lifting the Future: The New River Valley Outdoor Activity Centre

Over the decades, thousands of Albertans have enjoyed our facilities, and now we’re ready to carve out the next chapter of our history, one that gives a lift to the next generation of community builders, athletes, and Olympians who will call our hill home.

We have envisioned a state-of-the-art, sustainably designed Outdoor Activity Centre that will allow us to better serve the community for decades to come. It will mean more people enjoying our city’s backyard, more capacity to support our athletes, and a new hub for community building, all helping us lift Edmonton’s winter home into the future.

Give a Lift to Something Bigger

From families learning on our slopes to athletes training for excellence, every experience at ESC contributes to the community, heritage, and the future of Edmonton’s winter story. The Give a Lift Campaign celebrates this spirit of connection and progress, showcasing a chance to see how together we’re lifting Edmonton for generations to come.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved and help us give a lift to the next chapter of ESC.

Temporary Facilities & Year-Round Operations

Until our new facility is finished, our modular buildings at the hill offer Guest Services, Equipment Rentals, Day Lodge/Warm Up Space, and Apres Ski! These buildings support our operations year-round, giving a lift to programs, athletes, and community experiences.

Beyond recreation, our new facility will enable ESC’s community partners, including the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, the Indigenous Sport Council (Alberta), Action for Healthy Communities, and Girls in Sport Alberta, to offer year-round outdoor sport and culture programming. The new facility will accommodate a range of participants, including those currently facing barriers to participation.

We’re proud to minimize the project's environmental impact by building within our existing facility footprint. Plus, our unique location — connected by the trail system of Canada’s largest urban park network and Edmonton’s Valley Line LRT — provides ready access to community members.
