Patrol

Position Description

Reporting to the Patrol Supervisor, Patrol is responsible for all first aid and fellow patrollers and overseeing the safety of guests and terrain. Patrol ensures the outdoor spaces are accessed and utilized in a safe manner and responds to any first aid needs that may arise inside any Edmonton Ski Club facility or corresponding outdoor areas. Patrols communicate and work closely with guest services and lift operations teams.

You possess relevant occupational first aid supplemented by ski and snowboard industry or operations experience, preferably in the hospitality/tourism industry. Experience with the ski and snowboard industry is of benefit. You are hands-on, identifying opportunities and solving problems. You are proactive, committed to safety and quality service. You have demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience in dealing with the public and fellow staff and potentially traumatic injuries. You create a safe and positive work culture.

Responsibilites

  • Provides excellent guest service to internal and external guests, creates a positive, family-oriented and lively atmosphere

  • Patrol all terrain ensuring guests are adhering to the alpine code of conduct.

  • Ensuring all sleds and emergency first aid kits are always appropriately supplied.

  • Conducts regular pass checks of visitors in lift lines and boot traffic on hill. Addresses non ticketed guests, or unsafe guests in an efficient, polite and effective manner.

  • Assists operations with maintaining snow fences, blocking off out of bounds areas, identifying and relaying unsafe conditions in need of attention

  • Ensure the proper reporting and maintenance of accident logs, records and paperwork

  • Operates the facility according to Board-approved operational requirements, Board-approved policies and procedures and all applicable regulatory standards

  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to improve the sustainability of the organization

  • Acts as a community ambassador for the Edmonton Ski Club 

  • Conduct an end of day sweep to ensure all patrons have left the property.

  • Assists in other areas as required

  • Able to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience in operations and with the Ski and Snowboard Industry

  • Enthusiastic about skiing and/or snowboarding with black level aptitude.

  • Outgoing and friendly attitude

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in adverse weather conditions, and work a schedule that includes nights, evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Occupational First Aid credentials

Work Schedule

  • This is a seasonal position, December – March. Planned hours of operation are:

    • Monday-Tuesday: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM​

    • Wednesday-Friday: 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM

    • Saturday-Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
